How does a liberal arts education help us turn our interests and passions into future plans? This workshop will highlight tools for self-reflection and designing our best lives in college and beyond. Sophomore students only.

Congratulations on your decision to attend Eckerd College! This is the first step on a journey to becoming a liberally educated citizen. Our Winter Term class together titled The Green Academic: Environmental Justice and the Liberal Arts focuses on the role of the liberal arts in addressing questions of environmental justice. The course considers the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach to issues of environmental justice, environmental racism, and ecological feminism. You will also be involved in a number of orientation activities outside of the classroom that will teach you about the opportunities and resources available to you on campus.

This course highlights intertwined social and environmental issues which the Tampa Bay Region faces in the 21st century. Readings, discussions, and field trips will develop nuanced understanding and multidisciplinary perspectives on environmental crisis and change.
