Are you interested in how the nervous system works? What does it mean for a chemical to be a neurotoxin? Are neurotoxins commonly found in the environment? We will explore the nature of what makes a chemical a neurotoxin, and look at where neurotoxins are found naturally (eg. plant defenses) and unnaturally (eg. human-generated pollutants). We will also work hands-on in the laboratory to examine neurons and the pathological morphology they endure after toxic exposure.
